The deadline for
submitting a proposal has passed. No proposals are being accepted after 5 PM on October 1,

The Connecticut State Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS) on behalf
of the Governor's Office is seeking proposals from qualified applicants to provide
services related to The Governor's Prevention Initiative for Youth (State Incentive
Grant), a comprehensive substance abuse prevention initiative targeting youth ages 12-17.
The goal of the Governor's Prevention Initiative for Youth is to redirect Connecticut's
prevention system toward the use of effective, outcome-based prevention programs. The
majority of funding will be awarded to proposals that utilize science-based
prevention programs that have been identified by the Center for Substance Abuse
Prevention (CSAP) as being effective in reducing substance use among youth.
It is anticipated that $2.5 million will be available for these services by December 1,
1999; Funding will be available for three years and is contingent on satisfactory program
performance and the availability of federal funds.
An original and six (6) copies of the proposal must be received at the address below no
later than 5:00 p.m. (EST) on October 1, 1999:
